First Cuddly Teddy
The first cuddly teddy bear with moving limbs was created by Morris Michtom in 1902. Richard Steiff, a famous German toy maker showed a similar bear in 1903, but said he'd been working on it before Michtom. In any case, in America, the teddy bear's name is based on the nickname of Theodore Roosevelt, then president of the United States.

FIRST TOASTER The first electric toaster was made in 1910 by Westinghouse Co. However, it was little more than a heated wire that sizzled the bread on one side. You had to watch the toast and grab it before it burned. In 1918, Charles Strite saved the world from burnt toast by inventing the pop-up toaster. He found a way for the temperature control to signal the pop-up device when the toast was done. Restauants used his machines first; the home "Toastmaster" debuted in 1926. The public loved it so much that in 1927, March was named National toaster Month to spread the word.
